A. H. Cheater Funeral Directors – Recommended by the Good Funeral Guide 2017

4th July 2017

We are pleased to announce that A.H. Cheater Funeral Directors, the family owned funeral directors of Romsey, have been recommended by the Good Funeral Guide 2017.

After a visit a thorough inspection, we have become one of only 4 recommended in the Hampshire region. An accolade of which we are extremely proud.

The Good Funeral Guide is a not-for-profit social enterprise company. The Good Funeral Guide is wholly independent of the funeral industry and is dedicated to supporting, empowering and representing the interests of dying and bereaved people living in the UK. Unlike other online comparison websites, the Good Funeral Guide actively visit their recommended funeral directors.

In the review of A H Cheater Ltd the Good Funeral Guide said “Both Simon and Michael have inherited Peter Peace’s devotion and dedication to serving the community around them, and they both have an easy warmth that instantly makes you feel at home. Both have a natural, comfortable manner about them, they are completely unstuffy and unpretentious, yet at the same time you know that these are experienced, professional men who would be the safest of hands to look after you and your family if somebody died. Immensely likeable and friendly, both Simon and Michael are the epitome of the best kind of undertaker, a professional at the heart of the community in which they live”

“Every family. Each person who comes to Cheaters is met with the same approach, the most important skill here is the ability to listen to you and to learn what you need them to do to help you. You won’t be dictated to or led to choose things that you don’t need or want; you will receive highly personal and professional care and be made to feel calm and safe in all your contact with them.”

Exam Success

23rd May 2017

Congratulations to Lizzie Cox who recently passed her Diploma in Funeral Directing, become the first qualified female funeral director for A. H. Cheater. Lizzie has been with the company full time since 2012, following on from a number of work experience placements with us.

“Having passed both NAFD Diplomas, I am extremely proud to now be a fully qualified Funeral Director working for such a respected and well-known local business. I consider my job to be a real privilege and welcome the responsibility and challenges that it brings. I’ve been lucky enough to meet some lovely people and take real pride in being able to help them at distressing and difficult times. Although studying over the last two years has been hard work, it was well worth it. I couldn’t ask for a better team of colleagues to work with.”

We are extremely proud of Lizzie and her achievements. She has an excellent caring nature with bereaved families, which is so important during what can be a extremely stressful time for them.

Once again this year Cheater’s entered a team into the Romsey Relay Marathon held at Broadlands.

The event was a great success enjoyed by lots of different teams, all raising monies for their chosen charities.

Our team finished with an excellent time of 3 hours 50 minutes. A great improvement on last years time, with many of the team slicing two minutes off personal times.

This year we decided to run on behalf of Youth in Romsey.  A local group based at Romsey Sports Centre. Youth in Romsey is a support centre for people aged 6-25 years helping with issues including employment, education and counselling.Happy Runners

A Win at Celtic Manor

19th June 2015

Yet another very successful golf day was held on April 29 at Celtic Manor in South Wales, playing the famous Roman Road course.  The sun shone and the wind blew for the 27 players who attempted to play probably the most difficult course we have ever played!  The course was in very good condition as it was being prepared for the European Seniors Wales Open at the end of May.  Although the individual and team scores were lower than normal, a great day and evening were enjoyed by all.  We were particularly pleased to welcome some new members to the Society, one of whom won the individual event.  Also we were able to enjoy the company of long standing friends as well as welcoming some we had not seen for some meetings. The hospitality and help of all the staff at Celtic Manor, whether in the hotel or at the golf clubhouse, was excellent.  The meal and prize presentation in the evening was attended by 29 people.

Once again the prizes were presented to the winners by the Society’s captain, Tony Mears.  Thanks, as always, to our generous sponsors we were able to have a table full of good prizes.  The sponsors included Dignity, Ecclesiastical, Golden Charter, Lyn Oakes Ltd., M K Ginder Group, NAFD, Thorley Smith Ltd and Wilcox & Co (Limousines) Ltd.  The prizes included a golf cart bag, glassware, clothes holdalls, a putter, golf balls along with other prizes and a sleeve of golf balls to the only 3 people who got “birdies”.

Well done to all the winners, but especially to Michael Peace who at his first meeting won the individual event with a very creditable 33 points on a very difficult course and in windy conditions.  As scores were lower than normal, even for some more experienced and seasoned golfers, we decided on this occasion we would not present or embarrass players by presenting rookie prizes!

Bradbeers Relay Marathon Completed

6th May 2015

A. H. Cheater entered a team into the Bradbeers relay marathon on Sunday 19th April and successfully completed the marathon distance in 3 hours 53 minutes. This meant an overall position of 37th place (and no there were not only 37 teams!!!). All ten team members ran well, with fastest pace around 16 minutes for 2.6 miles. It was a great day with lots of the local community coming together for the event held at Broadlands. We had a target to raise £500 and hope to get close to this.

Firstly thank you to all those who kindly sponsored our run and secondly a big thank you to the members of the team who gave up some of their time to participate. Well Done!!

Please see the attached photos as proof that we actually did it.
